Ukrainian special forces from the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) carried out a raid on a Russian military position on an island in the northern Black Sea on Monday night.

According to HUR’s press service, operatives landed on Tendra Spit, a narrow strip of land located approximately 30 kilometers off Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region.

The spit, under Russian occupation since early in the war, has been used for surveillance and communications disruption. Its removal, HUR said, reduces Russia’s monitoring capabilities in the region.

During the operation, Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian “Zont” electronic warfare system and a “Rosa” radar station. HUR did not disclose whether there were any Russian casualties.

“The Ukrainian flag was raised over the island. The operation was completed without casualties on the Ukrainian side,” HUR added.

The agency credited the mission’s success to support from partners and donors involved in the “Boats for HUR” initiative, a project led by the charitable foundation of Diana Podolianchuk.

The raid follows a May 2 operation in which modified Ukrainian Magura V7 sea drones, armed with AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, shot down two Russian Su-30SM fighter jets over the Black Sea.
