President Donald Trump is considering military action against Iran after protests left hundreds dead, CNN reported.

The report follows Trump’s warning that the U.S. would intervene if Iran kills demonstrators protesting Iran’s soaring inflation.

According to CNN, Trump was briefed on several intervention plans, including potential attack on Tehran’s security forces, as well as non-military measures like cyber operations and sanctions on regime officials or key economic sectors. Iran has warned it will retaliate against any U.S. action.

According to the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), 544 deaths have been confirmed since the protests in Iran began in December, with dozens of additional cases still under review.

HRANA also reported that more than 10,681 people have been arrested and imprisoned. Protests have taken place at 585 sites across 186 cities in all 31 provinces of Iran.

“Things here are very, very bad,” a source from Tehran told the BBC on Sunday. “A lot of our friends have been killed. They were firing live rounds. It’s like a war zone, the streets are full of blood. They’re taking away bodies in trucks.”

A video shared by the Visegrád 24 on X account shows what the outlet claims are around 200 anti-regime protesters in Iran in body bags. Another clip shared by OSINTdefender shows families searching for their deceased relatives at the Kahrizak Forensic Medical Center, south of Tehran.

Neither claim has been independently verified, and Iranian authorities have not commented on the reports.
