The Yemeni National Resistance Forces (NRF), led by Tarek Saleh, have seized more than 750 tons of Iranian weapons bound for Yemen’s Houthi rebels, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Wednesday.

According to CENTCOM, the intercepted shipment included advanced cruise missiles, anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles, drone engines, radar systems, and communications equipment.

Many of the systems were produced by a company linked to the Iranian Ministry of Defense, which is under U.S. sanctions, according to NRF.

Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of CENTCOM, praised the NRF for their actions: “We commend the legitimate government forces of Yemen who continue to interdict the flow of Iranian munitions bound for the Houthis.”

“Limiting the free flow of Iranian support to the Houthis is critical to regional security, stability, and freedom of navigation,” Kurilla added.

Since October 2023, the Houthis have repeatedly attacked commercial shipping, claiming the assaults are in solidarity with Palestinians amid Israel’s war in Gaza. This month alone, the group sank two vessels in the Red Sea, killing at least four people.
