U.S. Warship and Marines Conduct Training in Trinidad Miles from Venezuela
A U.S. Navy destroyer, the USS Gravely (DDG-107), arrived in Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday with Marines from the 22nd Expeditionary Unit ahead of joint training with local forces. The warship docked in the capital, Port of Spain, less than seven miles from Venezuelan waters.
Trinidad’s government described the drills, running from October 26 to 30, as routine security cooperation. The Gravely, equipped with the Aegis combat system and vertical-launch missiles, offers advanced air defense and long-range strike capabilities.
The deployment comes amid escalating U.S.-Venezuela tensions and follows recent U.S. counter-narcotics operations across the Caribbean. (Read More)
